Kuna Kung Fu Started at a Challenging Time and Overcame
You Can Overcome Your Challenges Too
Kuna Kung Fu opened for business just before the COVID-19 Pandemic. As you can imagine, that led to a challenging start to a new business. We had to close our doors shortly after opening. Thankfully, we had an understanding landlord who allowed us to stay in business during the shut down. Army veteran, Sifu Kyle, was able to do side jobs to keep life afloat. Now, we're charging forward full force. We want to get Kuna Kung Fu out there and help anybody who wants to improve themselves.
Improve your body, mind and spirit through the power of martial arts. At Kuna Kung Fu, we're committed to helping you reach your full potential. Our dedicated and professional instructors will guide you every step of the way in a safe, friendly and encouraging environment.

Sifu Kyle Wooten
Sifu Kyle found Kung Fu right when he needed it. He was finishing his service in the Army and had chronic pain. He was told by doctors that he had to deal with the pain and limitations and “could only wait until his situation got bad enough for surgery.” Thankfully, somebody recommended he try Kung Fu, which turned Kyle’s life around. He never had to have surgery, and is stronger physically and mentally now than he has ever been. Since first discovering Kung Fu, 10 years ago, Kyle has seen how Kung Fu has helped him and others around him. He now shares that with others as a Sifu (teacher).
Sifu Kyle is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Hung Ga Kung Fu, along with a decade of grappling experience and training in Boxing, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai and others. He graduated from West Point in 2009 and served in the US Army, developing his sense of service to the community and learning many useful skills including EMT training. After leaving the Army, and getting involved with Kung Fu, Kyle obtained his Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine while training Kung Fu and earning the right to open a Kung Fu school through Yee's Hung Ga Branch of renowned Kung Fu. He is now a full-time Acupuncturist, Kung Fu Sifu, husband, animal lover and self-proclaimed nerd. His acupuncturist business is Kuna Wellness and Acupuncture, which is another avenue through which he chooses to continue serving his community. Teaching Kung Fu is his passion after business hours.

The Teaching Style at Kuna Kung Fu
Classes at Kuna Kung Fu are teacher-led and student-oriented in a traditional way; Through repetition of drills and exercises we develop Capability, and combined with a solid Understanding of the theory, it becomes precise and powerful Application of skill. This requires a good relationship between teacher (Sifu) and student, as well as a lot of one-on-one instruction, both of which are central to how I teach.
"Much of what I teach in Kung Fu relies on what we call 'Foundation Training,' which builds certain capabilities into the body on a deep level; then we learn to use this foundation to turn seemingly ordinary techniques (Punch, Block, Kick, etc.) into phenomenally effective tools. Hung Ga in particular strongly emphasizes Stance Training in our Foundation, more than most Kung Fu, and we use it as a basis to build exceptional skill. We always keep in mind that we develop fighting skills not with the goal of becoming excellent fighters (though many do), rather we use fighting and training as a way to access and modify the body, mind and spirit, which is where the true Growth happens.
This means that, as a Sifu, I am always trying to improve your technique, because I know that improving another 5% in skill might get you another 50% in results. Bottom Line: My job as a Sifu is to give you the tools of Kung Fu, teach you how to unlock their secrets and help ensure maximum results from your effort."
